    Faith, the deliberate acceptance of what doesn't make sense, is taught as a virtue to the very young and is continuously reinforced by parents, peers, priests and (in some places) educators. It is a comforting social bond that is hard to break in those who put great value this bond, and losing it can be traumatic. It can take maturity and independence to feel adequate without it, plus a willingness to accept evidence and reason. The immature, the dependent, the irrational and the oblivious may all be beyond hope, so your debate energy is better spent on the rest.

    Depends on the content. If each slide involves designing and developing a dialogue between each frame from scratch, with no supplied imagery, I would say you're looking at between 250-1000$. It's a lot but it would be a lot to ask for... 15-20 specifically designed images, formatting/page layout, unified theme content etc, text dialogue, script, etc... each thing adds up.

    If you supply the content and it is just left to the designer to compile the presentation and insert formatting/text, I would say 50-200$.

    As an artist, I charge 25$ half hour, 50$ a full hour. At that rate, if I spent 1 hour per picture and there are 20 pictures, that is 1,000$ easy. Think of it that way...

    yeah there are many proofs for that. My favorite is a very short and simple one>

    Symbols: "Z" integers, "ZxZ" cross produkt of integers, "Q" rationals, "=~" isomorphy (which implies same cardinality)

    1) Z =~ ZxZ, because of the Gridpoint-Representation. You just represent ZxZ by a 2-dimensional grid, with the gridpoints at (x,y), where x,y from Z.

    Now you just make spirals around (0,0). From (0,0) to (1,0) then to (1,1), (0,1) (-1,1) (-1,0) (-1,-1) (0,-1) etc. and represent each gridpoint with a number from Z. You cover the entire grid to infinity this way, so the two must be at the same size.

    2) ZxZ=Q, because every number in Q needs by definition just a pair of numbers from Z. Q consists of all numbers of the Form a/b , where a,b, from Z. So through taking pairs out of ZxZ you can form Q.

    3) so Z=~Q

    A really good question and you are spot on. It has been a difficult thing to be okay with so in dealing with it I have come to accept that it is ingrained in our society to value physical attractiveness. That for someone to be interested in another person sexually and personally on first sight because they are physically attractive is what we are conditioned for. That when guys give me a second look only because I am now 'attractive' it doesn't necessarily say anything negative against them or their values, it's just natural and perhaps unconscious.

    There has been a significant change in how I've been seen by guys. When I was obese I would be hit on or tooted at from the car but that was mockingly and an intentional insult. Now if I am hit on I have to remind myself that it is genuine and they are complimenting me and not teasing me like they would have been in the same situation in the past.

    I have (lightly) suggested to a guy who took an interest in me and I dated for a little while that he wouldn't have even thought twice of me if I was still overweight. He claims that he would have which is sweet but even though he was into me for my non physical characteristics I believe he wouldn't have giving himself a chance to learn of them if I was still obese.

    It is sometimes a hard thing to be okay with having lived both as physically unattractive as well as physically desired and being treated differently because of it. But from it I have taken a better ability to detect which guys are genuinely interested in me and which are only interested in my physical appearance. And truth be told, how I look with clothes on is deceptive, if I am with a guy sexually then they are dealing with flabby skin and stretch marks, it's a good way of knowing if they are in it for me or the body they expected on first sight.

    I've read tons of stuff about probabilistic wave functions, superposition, wave function collapse and the like. You're not going to tell me that an electron moving in one direction is identical in everything to an electron moving in the other direction. That's nonsense on the face of it.

    Besides, the wave function is just something invented for our convenience. Nature needs to know where the electron is exactly in order to determine the probability of an interaction at any given position surrounding its actual location.

    But that's not all. Electrons have different spin states depending on certain conditions.

    To most Americans it would be an embarrassment to acknowledge an association with Glenn Beck. That means a lot of Republicans and Independents will become disenchanted with the Republican Party for putting up with the craziness of the Right. This is GOOD.

    I'm 31 now, and started playing when I was 16 by sneaking into casinos in AZ when I had a fake ID. 15 years worth of experience is nothing in the poker world. The most important thing is discipline. Know when to get up whether you are running good or bad.

    Deciding to play for a living is a tough choice, and it involves alot of risk. I'm married and have a toddler aged son, so I don't "gamble" or take undue risks like I used to when I was younger.

    Bankroll management is very important. You cant keep your living expenses mixed in with your poker bankroll. They must be separate, or one of the two will suffer.

    Like? I bought a Mortal Kombat game, Twilight Princess, and a horribly disappointing DDR game for my Wii around the time I bought the console itself. I haven't played any of them in probably a year or so.

    Aside from that, Virtual Console / WiiWare are the only places I've got games. I go into stores and look at the games on offer, and usually can only work up a vague "meh". I've easily invested twice as many hours in my PS2 as my Wii in the time since I bought the Wii. It's pretty sad.

    It's pretty clear to me that alcohol, and *any* drug, makes for a *huge* gray area that is highly dependent on context:

    If you spike someone's drink with alcohol (like any drug), there is very obviously foul play. If you find someone who is passed out drunk (or stoned on any drug) and you molest them or have sex with them, you have clearly acted criminally. If you seek out someone who is voluntarily drunk (or voluntarily stoned) so that you can take advantage of them in that state, when they otherwise would refuse sexual contact with you, that is questionable. If you have sex with someone who drank (or took other drugs) to loosen up before seeking sex, or if they would consent to sex with you even if they were sober, there is no problem.

    It is really quite simple. The reddit programming community started out here as a lisp community. Today a lot of Haskell, Ocaml,... hang out here. Lisp, Haskell,... programmers are very much interested in programming language design and a clean design, powerful language constructs don't seem to correlate well with popularity at all.

    PHP, along with C++ and Java is probably one of the best examples of a language that is quite frankly so badly designed that it is hard to use the word design at all for it while being extremely popular mostly due to being in the right place at the right time and looking familiar to the "I am scared of syntactic change" crowd.

    This makes many people on reddit who have tried many languages and miss powerful features and clean design when they have to program in C++, Java or PHP in their dayjobs very sad and angry which means PHP won't get much love here.

    It seems to me that someone got fired for testing-positive for marijuana, because she smoked it at home for migraines. She was fired, and sued, and lost because they determined that the legality of medicinal weed does not protect you from termination over failed drug tests, regardless of whether you smoked at work or at home. (California made the same exact decision a few years back. "You can smoke legally, but we don't care if you get fired over it.")

    So no, your headline is bullshit. She didn't smoke at work, no one said it's okay to smoke at work, and in fact, have said that smoking AT ALL will not be protected. Exactly what caused you to choose this headline? There is absolutely nothing correct or truthful about your headline at all.

    Here's my theory (assuming you're telling the truth):

    one of the tellers (BOA/M&T) happened to have a $100 counterfeit, (i guess when you're dealing w/money all the time its not too hard to come by) and when one of the tellers got your money he/she switched a real $100 bill out with the counterfeit and pocketed the cash...

    if this is the case, it'll look like you're the one who was trying to trick BoA into giving you an additional $100 bill when on the record it shows that exactly$1742 was given to you in legitimate bills. Impossible to prove which is the case unless the missing $100 bill is located with you/a teller (fat chance)

    if the m&t/boa teller didn't pocket it and had made a mistake earlier by accepting a fake bill and then switched your legit bill with the fake one to not get in trouble, the missing legit $100 bill is currently in the M&T/boa bank in some other account, so if you could get the banks to search all their serials for the given missing bill it would show up in one of the

    i'd say its more likely that the m&t teller switched a legit bill with the fake one because they didn't know that you got it from boa so they figured you'd think you were ripped off by some other guy, the boa teller would be stupid to give you a fake bill since most people don't carry around that many $100 bills and you would know that it came from boa (but if they were desperate to get rid of the fake bill/were not thinking straight because of a mistake they needed to cover up for its possible they thought they could frame you and take their chances)

    get a list of the serials of all the $100 bills they supposedly gave you, cancel out all the ones you got, and request both banks to search all their serials added to accounts recently (including some of the transactions prior to you - they may have stuck it in the account they had just fucked up) for the missing bill. If they comply there's a very good chance you'll find the culprit (if they didn't pocket the bill)

    So, I'm saying this from the perspective of having graduated from Georgia Tech...

    People who started as Computer Engineers and hated the programming switched to Electrical Engineering.

    People who started as Computer Engineers and hated the math switched to Computer Science (CS math is different than engineering math).

    People who started in Computer Science and didn't like dealing with so much theory and preferred answers switched to Computer Engineering.

    That one is actually a commonality between switching from science to engineering in general... engineers are presented with a problem and find an answer, scientists are presented with an answer and describe it with a theory.

    However, as mentioned elsewhere, different colleges will treat the degrees differently. I heard at Duke that Electrical Engineering was a lot harder than Computer Engineering, but at Georgia Tech it was opposite (Computer Engineers had to take the hardest classes of both Electrical Engineering and Computer Science).

    Overall, though, I'd say it's not important what you start with. Get in there, discover which one you think aligns with you better, and switch if you have to. There's no shame in changing majors.

    Culture is a very subjective definition. It is not so much a deformity as it is a physical variation (we can group cultures based around other physical features such as race, can we not?). Little people have their own culture, based around a height difference. The very athletic have a sort of culture based on their physical qualities as well. I understand what you're saying, and I don't necessarily disagree, but I am hesitant to tell someone that their culture is incorrect or that their basis for feeling a part of a cultural community is a deformity that needs to be fixed.

    If they are functional, and they feel as though they belong to a community, it can be a community. We don't have to like a culture or agree with its beliefs (indeed, I disagree with beliefs in many extremist cultures) but that does not negate them being a true culture.

    Your very young, are there any family or friend's you can go to for help maybe put you up in a room until you get on your feet.

    Stay positive, first thing to do is to go out and try to get a job.

    Try to talk to your landlord or roommate and explain to them that you just need a week or two to come up with your rent.

    If you are past this point and getting evicted see if you can apply for some type of Government assistance as soon as possible don't Waite, go walk right in, forget the computer you need help now.

    there must be some type of Emergency assistance program in Canada, to help you pay your rent, and maybe set you up with some type of work.

    Do not be Ashamed for asking for help, to help you get on your feet.

    Your young and in years from now you will look back and smile.

    Once you get on your feet try to go to school at night for a good paying job. Good luck

    The real issue appears that you believe in "magic". That "magic" you're feeling is just a metric assload of chemicals in your puny human brain, too complex for you too understand therefore you use words like "magical". I understand all too well Love, and i can tell you the larger the kids get the more i'm attached to them. It's all the hard work i've put into them that adds value as well as the obvious reciprocation i get as they turn into smart, well adjusted people. That doesn't change the fact that i'd rather have an infant die than a 3 year old. I'd rather have a 3year old die than a 6 year old. And the fact that My brain didn't throw me "magical" signals when my kid happened to be the 9,000th pulled out of another human that day on this planet.

    With all the comments that this thread has created, I don't know if the OP will even see this, but just try to do anything other than watching TV--there is some pretty strong evidence that even just putting kids in their rooms and telling them to entertain themselves is far better for them, developmentally, than watching TV with them. TV is a sort of developmental black hole.

    edit: whenever he asks a question, engage him in finding the answer for it as a worthwhile pursuit in its own--this is probably the best way to foster intellectual curiosity in little kids. And it's really wonderful that you're trying to help your brother grow up well. Make sure to always support him emotionally, too, to encourage him as much as possible when he's growing to develop his own goals and pursue them--a lot of people I know can be very smart but totally not there, emotionally, because of sad family lives.

    An awesome C# feature is the IDisposable pattern, and its built in compiler support...For example:

    public class ResourceConsumer : IDisposable

    {

    // IDisposable Interface Method

    public void Dispose()

    And then when using:

    // When leaving the scope of the using block, C# automatically calls Dispose

    This works better than using a destructor, because C# has non deterministic object life, if you free resources in the destructor they will not actuall be freed until the GC runs, which may never happen depending on heap pressure.
